Great Canadian Ontario is the only venue in the province hosting WSOP events, including ring and bracelet competitions. The standout event was the $2,000 Main Event, which attracted 2,139 entries and produced a record prize pool of $3.74 million, a notable rise from last year’s $2.8 million. Also this year, 413 Main Event online qualifiers participated from GGPoker, further boosting the turnaround.
The big headline from the event is undoubtedly Pengxiang Ruan, who took the Main Event title, pocketing $510,245. Ruan, who has played poker for ten years, has ambitions to open his own restaurant with his earnings.
